DEERWOOD -- Nina Evelyn Carlson, age 94, of Deerwood, died on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. She was born on Jan. 10, 1949, in Fergus Falls, Minn., to Edward H. and Selma (Wallin) Burau. She graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School class of 1927. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Deerwood, and past officer of its WELCA, charter member and first president of Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 557 of Deerwood, past officer of the Rebecca Lodge, Crosby, and the Deerwood Civic League.
Survived by daughter, Georgia Johnson of Crosby; grandchildren Roger (Pat) Johnson of Coon Rapids, Carla (Don) Williams of Anchorage, Alaska; great-grandson Shane Smith of Anchorage, Alaska; nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by husband, Chester, three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood with the Rev. David N. Anderson and Greg Meyer, AiM officiating. Burial will be at the Deerwood Scandia Cemetery 11 a.m. on Friday. Friends may call Wednesday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
