The waiting list a/k/a the kids enrolled in Kinship Partners who have not been matched with an adult partner yet, how many of these children are there? Between our three area offices in Brainerd, Crosby and Pequot Lakes, 47 is the latest count. That means that these 47 children went through our interview process and learned about Kinship Partners. That also means that 47 kids are anxiously awaiting the call from Kinship Partners that will bring news of a possible partner for them. And when I say anxiously, I mean ANXIOUSLY! I often see kids on our waiting list around town or at school and their first question to me is "Did you find me a partner yet?"
Having a Kinship Partner is a commitment of a couple of hours a week. The good thing about this time spent with your junior partner is that it can be spent doing everyday activities that you both enjoy and chances are there is a child on our waiting list who has similar interests as you. If you like to fish, 8-year-old Robbie would love to tag along. Maybe doing crafts is a favorite pastime of yours, 9-year-old Rebecca would enjoy you sharing your talents with her. Are there any hunters out there who will have room for one more in their hunting party? We have lots of boys on our waiting list who would love the opportunity.
Each of the children on our waiting list has a reason for being in our program; there is some part of their life that can benefit greatly from having some extra interaction with an adult partner. Some may have some challenging issues in their life, others maybe just need a friend. All of them want a partner. Please call today to learn more about our program.
