CORRECTIONS
Because of incorrect information provided by the Central Lakes College Foundation, the following clarifications are needed regarding the Van Essen scholarship fund article in the Sept. 27 Neighbors section: The total donation was $36,000, not $35,500. William Van Essen graduated from Washington High School in 1938. In 1940, he was a member of the first graduating class of Brainerd State Junior College. He was enrolled at the University of Minnesota in 1941 but did not complete his degree following his service in WWII. Only two of John's brothers are still living. Robert died earlier. His brother, Mark, has a year-round home on Round Lake, not a summer residence on Lake Hubert.
Also, an accident report listed on Page 5A of Wednesday's Dispatch should have stated Roger Uselman, 50, Brainerd, was injured Monday on Washington Street in Brainerd after the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a car.
The Dispatch regrets the errors.
