Hunter hurt after fall from tree
A hunter was injured after falling from a tree Sunday in St. Mathias Township, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department reported.

PREPARING FOR THE WORST
Tim Friis, a Brainerd police officer and member of the Brainerd/Crow Wing County Bomb Squad, simulated the rescue of a fake bombing victim during a training exercise Saturday at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds. Friis wore heavy protective gear in case another bomb were to explode while he was attempting to rescue victims during the training.

In light of the recent tragic shooting at ROCORI High School I feel compelled to act in some manner. An added tragedy would be if nothing good comes of the loss of these three young men's lives. What can we do as parents to help prevent such a tragedy in our own home town? Are we powerless? Let's hope not.
