BAXTER - First Baptist Church in Baxter will celebrate 135 years of existence Oct. 6 and 7. On Oct. 6, there will be a concert of special music starting at 6:30 p.m. On Oct. 7, there will be a morning service with a message from our former pastor, the Rev. Richard Paige. A meal will follow the service. At 1:30 p.m., there will be a celebration service with testimonies and a message by Ben Peterson, former missionary to Brazil, who was sent by First Baptist Church.
Rummage sale planned
First Presbyterian Church of Brainerd is having a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 5 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at the church at 512 South 8th Street to raise funds for missions projects. There will be a wide variety of items including electronic equipment, furniture, tools, clothing, home furnishings, books, etc.
Golden Goof Offs to present show
GARRISON - The Golden Goof Offs will be presenting the show, "The Country Western Wanna-bes," at 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at Light of the Cross Lutheran Church, Garrison. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children 12 and under.
Pancake breakfast planned
The youth group of The Journey North Community Church in Brainerd is hosting a pancake breakfast at the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen (next to Temple Baptist Church) from 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday. Cost is $2; children 5 and under are free.
All proceeds will be used for youth events in the coming year.
Jeff and Julie concert announced in Nisswa
NISSWA - The Jeff and Julie concert will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Christ Community Church in Nisswa. They will be entertaining the audience with their vocal talents. They've also invited a few special friends to share their talents with everyone as well.
Augsburg Centennial Choir to perform in Baxter
BAXTER - The Augsburg Centennial Choir will be a part of the 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship services at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. A quartet will sing at the 9 a.m. service and the full 55 voice choir at the 10:30 a.m. service.

Brainerd Laestadian Church has special weekend
Sunday is Michaelmas Sunday. The Brainerd Laestadian Lutheran Church, 1501 So. 8th. St., will be hosting special weekend activities surrounding Michaelmas, or "Angels and Children's Sunday." At 6 p.m. Saturday, there will be a presentation on "Caring for One Another." Sunday morning worship services will be at 11 a.m. The guest speaker for the weekend will be Tim Niskanen from Gurnee, Ill.
Additional pasties for sale
PEQUOT LAKES - Because of unexpected demand, Grace United Methodist Church of Pequot Lakes will produce additional pasties for sale weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon beginning Oct. 5. The regular October production of pasties also will be available for sale as usual on the third Thursday, Oct. 18.
Lakes Area Parish Nurses to meet Wednesday
The Lakes Area Parish Nurses will meet at noon Wednesday at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland, 200 Buffalo Hills Lane, for a short business meeting and then to Nelson-Doran Funeral Home for a presentation by Erik Christensen.

CROP Walk for Hunger planned for Oct. 7
BAXTER - The 2007 CROP Walk for Hunger is scheduled for 2 p.m. Oct. 7. The CROP Walk will begin and conclude at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter.
The walk will be about three miles.
Last year 190 people representing many of the local Christian churches in our community participated in the walk.
More than $11,238 was raised for the relief efforts of CROP/Church World Service.
The Salvation Army Food Shelf and Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen each received $1,405.

Bluegrass concert scheduled for Sunday
CROSSLAKE - Crosslake Christian Assembly of God Church will host its monthly bluegrass concert at 6 p.m. Sunday. Local musicians will perform a variety of songs on the fiddle, mandolin, dulcimer, guitar and banjo.
Davis to perform comedy concert in Pequot
PEQUOT LAKES - Ken Davis will perform in a unique comedy concert at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Trailside Center (adjacent to Pequot Lakes Baptist Church). Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Bazaar to be held in Aitkin
AITKIN - The Aitkin United Methodist Church will have a bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6.
An auction will be 10 a.m. in the backyard of the parsonage.
Fall festival at Park UMC
Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd, will hold its fall festival bazaar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6. There will be caramel and cinnamon rolls, fruit bread, apple, pecan or pumpkin pie and coffee, tea, cider or hot chocolate available.
There will be gift baskets, decorating items for fall and winter holidays, handiwork and baked goods for sale.
110th anniversary celebration planned
PILLAGER - The First Baptist Church of Pillager will celebrate its 110th anniversary on Sunday with Sunday school at 10 a.m.; worship service at 11 a.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Roger Camerer; and a time to reminisce and praise the Lord at 1:30 p.m.
