You, too, can be a master gardener

Posted: Friday, September 28, 2007

Interested in becoming a master gardener? If so, applications are being sought by the Crow Wing County Extension Service.

The Master Gardener Program is an educational program designed to train volunteers to help other people in their community with horticulture. The program was created in 1977 and administered by the University of Minnesota Extension.

To be a master gardener you should have an interest in gardening and a desire to share this interest with others. As part of the requirements for the first year, interns must attend the required educational training and complete an internship of 50 volunteer hours. To continue as an active master gardener, program members must complete 25 volunteer hours and five continuous education hours each year.
