Sculptor conducts workshop

Posted: Thursday, September 28, 2000

John Acosta, a sculptor, painter and muralist from St. Paul, directed a community workshop for about 100 guests Sept. 21 at Central Lakes College in Brainerd.

His presentation included group and individual consultations regarding the intrinsic value of self-expression via visual art.

His exhibit "Paintings with Respect and a Dream" continues to Oct. 5 in the CLC Gallery.

Evelyn Matthies (left), former Central Lakes College art instructor, and Jan Kurtz, Spanish instructor, participated in the community mural that involved many of those at the Community Hands-On Workshop led by John Acosta. The artist also spent part of Sept. 22 working with Mississippi Horizons School students and instructors Jeff Kidder and Sandy Nielsen.
