Pottery demonstration planned at open house
DEERWOOD - The Ripple River Gallery near Deerwood will host its annual fall open house Oct. 6.
Admission is free. Donations for the Hallett Memorial Library in Crosby and the Aitkin Public Library will be accepted.
Jim Loso, St. Joseph, will conduct a raku pottery firing demonstration at 10 a.m. He will provide small bisque-fired pots for participants to glaze. After the pots are glazed, they are fired in a gas kiln; then the red-hot pots are placed in sawdust and covered. The process takes about 45 minutes. Pots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Raku pottery firing demonstrations will be featured during the Oct. 6 open house at the Ripple River Gallery near Deerwood.
Musician Paul Imholte will perform from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Known as the "musical stringman," Imholte often brings a dozen instruments to a performance, offering a repertoire that blends country hoe-downs with Celtic enchantment.
Apple cider will be served.

Remer Holiday Bazaar scheduled Nov. 10
REMER - The Remer Holiday Bazaar is looking for artists, crafters and home-based businesses to participate from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 10 at Northland High School in Remer.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis by calling the Remer Arts and Craft Shop at (218) 566-2195, Louise Johnson at (218) 534-2970 or Dawn Molaison at (218) 697-2766 or e-mailing wezshayne@hotmail.com.
The fee is $20 for an 8-by-10-foot space, $5 extra for electricity.
Concessions and a baked goods will be available throughout the day.
