Paper and pastries
Fall TV's best returning show and most promising newcomer open their seasons in the next seven days. "The Office" (above) opens its fourth season of paper sales with an hour-long episode at 8 p.m. Thursday on NBC and "Pushing Daisies" pushes pies and romance at 7 p.m. Wednesday on ABC.
Fashionably Late afternoon
Area rock band Fashionably Late will close out the Music in the Park series at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park in Crosby. Admission is free; bring your own lawn chairs or blankets.
Angie and Aloysius
Three of the most beloved acts in the Eclectic Cafe rotation will be featured this weekend at the downtown Brainerd club. Denver folkie Angie Stevens (above) will take the stage at 9 p.m. Friday and Twins Cities rock bands Vicious Aloysius and the Julie Puppets will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 for the Friday show.
Dance (or taste) the salsa
The Fifth annual Festival Latino Scholarship Fundraiser will be from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at the Northland Arboretum in Baxter. The event will feature music, dance lessons, food, beverages, crafts and a market. Tickets are $5-$12, with proceeds going to Central Lakes College Spanish scholarships.
CLC Marx the spot
"Marx in Soho," a "play on history" about Karl Marx, will be staged by the Iron Age Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (with an encore at 10 a.m. Oct. 4) in Central Lakes College's Dryden Theatre in Brainerd. Tickets are $5-$10.
