The Lakes Area Pregnancy Support Center is sponsoring Five Laps for LAPS, an 18-team, 27-hole best ball scramble Monday.
The fund-raiser kicks off at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. It will begin with nine teams on the Garden Course at Grand View and the remaining nine teams at Birch Bay.
Additional afternoon play will follow with the lowest scoring nine teams golfing 18 holes at the Pines and the remaining nine teams playing 18 holes at Birch Bay.
Green fees and cart rentals will be paid by Birch Bay and Grand View Lodge. Each player's goal is to secure pledges for $20 per hole.
Lunch will be served at the Pines. The day will end with an awards ceremony at Birch Bay at 5 p.m. All proceeds go to the Lakes Area Pregnancy Support Center.
Sophomores win fourth game in row
The Brainerd Warriors sophomore football team won its fourth straight game by defeating the St. Cloud Tech Tigers 22-8 Thursday.
The Warriors scored first on a 6-yard run by James Strand Mike Baker passed to Matt Siegel for the 2-point conversion.
John Haberman threw a 12-yard pass to David Beilke for the second TD. Riley Cullinane ran for the conversion.
Strand scored in the second half on a 61-yard run.
Brainerd had 333 total offensive yards as the offensive line played a solid game.
The defense caused two turnovers. Chris Schwarze recovered a fumbled punt reception and Joe Anhalt intercepted a pass inside the 20 in the fourth quarter.
Brainerd takes a 4-1 record to Sauk Rapids 5 p.m. Thursday.
JV swim team defeats Willmar
The Brainerd Warriors beat Willmar 122-56 in junior varsity swimming and diving Thursday.
Individual winners were Jessica Bateman in the 200 free, Dana Hanson in the 200 individual medley, Cara Wiltse in the 50 free, Megan Street in diving, Brianna Hanson in the 100 butterfly, Jenny Boran in the 500 free, Jill London in the 100 backstroke and Danielle Marolt in the 100 breaststroke.
Katie Viau, Maggie Boland, Hilary Smith and Dayna Raboin teamed up to win the 200 medley relay.
Boys' JV soccer team defeats Flyers
The Brainerd Warriors defeated Little Falls 5-2 in junior varsity boys' soccer Thursday.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Brainerd scored five straight goals. The first was a header by Andy Bartel off a cross by Josh Johnson. Josh Johnson scored the second goal.
Noah Goedker scored on a pass from Johnson. Andy Bartel scored on a header from Nick Endreson. A Tim Lange pass to Josh Johnson resulted in the fifth goal.
The Brainerd defense was led by Jack Freeman. John Schuldheisz made four saves and Jeff Meyers made six.
