Brainerd High School has a proud Homecoming tradition which includes a number of Spirit Week activities. This past week, our annual Lip Sync activity did not meet our expectations -- some of our student performances were inappropriate. For this we apologize. We ask that you continue to hope and expect the best from our students, and that you understand that we commit to students and adults working together to assure an improved Lip Sync next year. We wish all our Warrior teens and fans a great weekend!

You can say yes
I have been reading lately about how the Baxter City Council has decided that they are not interesting enough to be televised. Though I find the Baxter council's lack of self esteem sad, the fact remains that their opinion on the subject really doesn't matter.
You, Baxter citizen, have every right to arm yourself with camera and take the city hall by storm. You see, you are protected by a glorious little document called the constitution. So long as the meeting is open, you are more than welcome to camp out there, boring as it often is, and record your heart out. The best part is, you can then take that tape to Charter Communications, the boys there just love to play that stuff on the air. You could even go so far as to add your own commentary. I guarantee that will get the council thinking.
So run to your local TV supply store, if there are any local businesses left in Baxter, and buy yourself a camera, and go to those meetings.
It's your right and in my opinion, your responsibility. Call me if you have any questions.

"To announce that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." (T. R. Roosevelt).
Since Bush took office (under questionable election circumstances), the economy has tanked, the peace dividend has evaporated, deficits are ballooning, and the financial world has been rocked by scandals in which the president and VP are heavily implicated. They have worked tirelessly to dismantle environmental laws, promoted corporate open access to public natural resources, stymied dozens of multilateral agreements (e.g. climate change, war crimes, chemical and biological weapons, land mines, nuclear disarmament), eroded civil liberties, and imprisoned immigrants and prisoners of war in violation of international law and our own civil rights traditions. The deserved sympathy the world extended us after 9/11 has been squandered. Bush has announced a ($400 billion) doctrine of global military dominance. The suits in charge are the septagenerian architects of decades of failed energy policies and heavy-handed foreign policy to stabilize Middle East oil access, where dissatisfied populations are seething under repressive regimes we helped create. Long-suffering Afghanistan is still in chaos, thousands of civilians collateral damage, and where is Osama? Now we are going to unilaterally send our troops to "preemptively defend" ourselves from a villain who has yet to be linked to 9/11? On trial at Nuremburg, Nazi leader Hermann Goering said "Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." Show me America is better than that! Support peace and justice, not Fortress World.
