ALDRICH -- Lauren E. Hanson, 82, Aldrich, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at Greater Staples Hospital in Staples.
He was born April 2, 1920, in Wadena County to Adolph and Fanny (Rosendahl) Hanson. He served in the Army during World War II and was in the D-Day landing on Normandy beaches. He received the Purple Heart for wounds he received. He farmed in Aldrich all of his life. He married Margaret Carlson on Aug. 24, 1946, in Sebeka. He was involved with the camera club, men's club and Hewitt-Aldrich VFW Post No. 2960, which he was quartermaster for many years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, John Hanson, Aldrich; three daughters, Judy Maiwerm, Palm Beach Garden, Fla., Janice Ihrke, Coon Rapids, and JoAnn Lee, St. Francis; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Hanson, Brainerd.
Two brothers, Wally and Eugene, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Balsamlund Lutheran Church with the Rev. Del Moen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:30-8 p.m. today at the Bielema Family Funeral Home in Verndale and an hour before services Saturday at the church.
