FBI considered the Stillwater Lift Bridge a possible terrorism target

OAK PARK HEIGHTS (AP) -- The FBI has considered the Stillwater Lift Bridge a possible target for terrorist attack, according to the Stillwater Police Chief.

Chief Larry Dauffenbach said Wednesday that the Federal Bureau of Investigation called his department Sept. 17, warning it had information concerning a threat against an interstate bridge in Minnesota.

The threat could have applied to the lift bridge, the I-94 bridge near Hudson, Wis., or any other bridge on the states' borders, he said.

Nothing came of the information.

"We've interviewed some people," Dauffenbach said, declining further explanation. "We interviewed them, but it didn't go anywhere."
