SARTELL - Michael Ruen scored the game's lone goal off a Chris Nathan corner kick with just under five minutes left to lead the Brainerd Warrior boys' soccer team past the Sartell Sabers 1-0 in Central Lakes Conference action Tuesday.
In a hard-fought first half the Warriors and Sabres had multiple chances to score, recording six and nine shots on goal respectively.
Goalkeepers Brian Sexton of Brainerd and Andrew Warzecha of Sartell played staunch defense, setting the tone for the half.
Michael Ruen scored the lone goal
The defensive trend continued for most of the second half until Nathan was able to connect with Ruen to break the scoreless tie in the 76th minute.
Sexton didn't need anything else, recording five second-half saves and 14 total.
