Americans sound off on food- and drink-related topics

Last month's issue of Food & Wine unleashed the results of an online survey asking Americans to sound off on a number of food- and drink-related topics. Here are just a few of the surprising findings:

-- Seventy-five percent of respondents think a man should pay for dinner if he has invited a woman out on a date.

-- Close to 50 percent of Americans said the most annoying thing a couple on a date can do while dining at a restaurant is to feed each other. (Isn't that illegal?)

-- As for adventurous eaters, 22 percent said they'd try Peruvian grilled guinea pig over Portuguese tripe soup, Chinese 1,000-year-old eggs or Mexican dried grasshoppers.

-- Only 10 percent of those surveyed admitted to thinking about food "as often as I think about sex," whereas 62 percent think about it (food, that is) "sporadically throughout the day."

-- And as for the respondents' "Favorite Movie Moment Involving Food?" The spaghetti scene in "Lady and the Tramp" took home 45 percent of the votes.
