Nominations are being sought for the 2001 Youth Volunteer of the Year.
This is an opportunity to honor a young person who has contributed to the welfare of the Brainerd lakes area through volunteerism.
Candidates should be 18 years or younger and their service to the community should be over and above their work responsibilities.
The past Youth Volunteers of the Year are Patrick Cross in 1999 and Jacob Pfingsten in 2000.

Public utilities to meet Thursday
The Brainerd Public Utilities Commission will meet 3 p.m. Thursday in the board room at 1151 Highland Scenic Drive.
Audubon society presentation today
The Brainerd Lakes Area Audubon Society presents "Audubon and the Passenger Pigeon," at 7 p.m. today at the Brainerd Public Library.
David Berg, assistant manager of Fort Snelling State Park, will present excerpts from his journals of John James Audubon.
