Cass County will offer public health clinics in October.
Public health nurses will assess at no charge: health history, blood pressure, blood glucose and medications management. Foot care will include cutting toenails, ingrown toenails and calluses for $10.

Hackensack -- 12:30-4 p.m. Oct. 9, Hackensack Senior Center.
Cass Lake -- 9-11:30 a.m. Oct. 16, Four Seasons Apartments.

Senior education topic: Breast and Prostate Health
A foot-care-only clinic for $10 will run 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 4 at Quam Court in Walker.

Color & You
Mary will help participants with wardrobe and color tips, as well as finding ways to add to and coordinate wardrobes on a limited budget. Tips will be given on skin care and cosmetic application.
This class will be 7 to 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, in the Staples Motley High School Home Economics Room. Cost is $35.
Dog Obedience Course
Join Gordy for an eight-week dog obedience course, beginning 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 2 in the Staples Community Center. Participants must bring a copy of shots records to the first class along with a 6-foot leather leash and a chain training collar. These items will be available for purchase at class if needed.
Cost is $40.
Self Defense Seminar
This three-hour self defense seminar will focus on learning basic punching and kicking techniques to defend one's self against one or more assailants. Appropriate support clothing is required.
Join Francisco from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 6 in the Staples Elementary School gym. Cost is $17.
Life's A Journey, Enjoy the Trip
Are you getting what you want out of life? What makes you happy and fulfilled? What values are most important to you? This three-hour session will give participants the tools to put their lives in balance and to identify their most important values that must be honored to be their personal best. Individuals, couples and groups welcome.

Society sets meeting
PEQUOT LAKES -- The Pequot Lakes Area Historical Society invites members and interested people to attend a program at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Cole Memorial Building (Senior Center).
Mary Lou Moudry, executive director, and Jolene Pasch, administrative assistant, from the Crow Wing County Historical Museum, will be guests. They will talk about ways to create a visual image to bring history to life.
Currently at the Crow Wing County museum there are exhibits titled: In the Good Ol' Summertime; Fashion, Function, Style, Fad; and Soles of the Past.
The Pequot Lakes Area Historical Society's lower level in the Cole Memorial Building was recently renovated and will soon be displaying artifacts and exhibits.
Following this presentation, there will be a regular monthly meeting of the historical society directors and members at 7 p.m.
