Dan Ebert of Lakeshore showed patience and discipline in tracking down Marshall Tofte to steal the victory using the inside line, and Tim Johnson got his first of two Wissota Street Stock victories in the Race Of Champions in the Wissota 100 Sept. 18 at Huron, S.D.
The Race of Champions featured only drivers who had won a WISSOTA track championship during the season. Ebert won track championships in Grand Rapids and Brainerd.
One night later, Johnson won the WISSOTA 100 feature in the Street Stock division and Ebert finished third in the Midwest Modified division.
Warriors, S-M, W-DC in Griak meet
The Brainerd Warriors, Staples-Motley Cardinals and Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines cross country teams will compete in the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in St. Paul..
Brainerd and S-M will compete in the Gold division. The boys' race begins at 1:40 p.m., the girls' meet at 2:25 p.m.
W-DC will compete in the Maroon division. The boys' race is at 3:10 p.m., the girls' meet at 3:55 p.m.
JV tennis wins 8 matches
Brainerd's junior varsity tennis team won eight doubles matches against Moorhead Thursday.
Winning teams included Chloe Glassman-Megan Hintz, Zoe Wolhart-Heather Jaeche, Kelsey Ott-Taylor Ott, Corinna Schmidt-Hannah Stoll, Julie Ashburn-Krista Bjork, Gabby Waters-Heather Jaeche, Mara Williams-Jinna Toft and Nicole Gervenak-Kylee Kunde.
Against Alexandria Tuesday, Brainerd doubles winners included Jackie Thurlow-Alexa Wright, Reah Williams-Heather Johnson, Lauren Rud-Maiah Maki, Molly Aga-Haylee Sinner, Diana Fellman-Kjersti Golden, Krista Bjork-Alex Williamson and Nicole Gervenak-Mara Williams.
Singles winners were Morgan Steffen, Brittany Bostrom, Jinna Toft and Kylee Kunde.
