FERGUS FALLS - Locked in a scoreless tie against Fergus Falls late in the second half, Brainerd Warrior senior attacker Jake Williams was taken down on his way to the goal and was awarded a penalty kick.

Stepping up to the one-on-one matchup against the Otter keeper, Williams buried a net-seeking dart in the lower right corner of the Fergus Falls goal to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead and an eventual victory Thursday.

"Jake has been the guy to take penalty shots for us all year," Warriors coach Cahil Collins said of the senior. "He was taken down going to the net and put a beautiful shot to the bottom right side of the goal and the goalkeeper had no chance."

Matt Sather also was stellar in the Brainerd net, turning away seven shots to blank the Otters for his third consecutive shutout.

"Whenever we play at Fergus we know we are in for a tough game," Collins said. "They have a really narrow field and we don't play well in that type of game but the guys worked really, really hard and we were fortunate enough to come out with the win."
