Geraldine Gravdahl

PINE RIVER - Geraldine "Gerry" Gravdahl, age 69, of Pine River, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Sept. 23, 2009, with her husband faithfully at her side, after a two-year battle with brain cancer. She was born April 12, 1940, in Sibley County, Minn., to Everett and Margaret LeMire. She graduated from Brainerd High School in 1958 and from Brainerd Community College with a degree in nursing in 1960. She married Ervin Gravdahl on Sept. 17, 1960, in Pequot Lakes. Gerry was employed by St. Joseph's Medical Center for two years, Ah Gwah Ching Center for two years, Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center for 44 years, during which time she also worked for the local ambulance service for 24 years. She enjoyed bowling and bingo, spoiling the grandkids and taking care of others. She will be remembered for her generous heart, giving spirit, healing hands and her wonderful sense of humor. She was loved by many and will be sorely missed by all.

Gerry is survived by her husband, Ervin; children, Keith Gravdahl (Heather), Scott Gravdahl (Lisa), Michael Gravdahl (Jeniffer), Kimberly Stidmon (Michael); mother, Margaret LeMire; sisters, Sandra Roscoe (Rick), Evelyn Rodman (Jeff), Sheila Nix; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many family, friends and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her father, Everett LeMire; and brother, Kenneth LeMire.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials designated for nursing students or Mildred Bible Chapel.

Services will be 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, at Mildred Bible Chapel, Backus, with Pastor Dennis Gellerman officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
