CROSBY - The eighth annual Arts and Crafts Fair and Women's Expo scheduled for from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Crosby's Hallett Community Center located at 470 Eighth St. N.E.
More than 75 exhibitors will be participating. Admission is free.
Guest speakers will be lined up throughout the day starting at 9:30 a.m. with Louise Johnson, horticulturalist at Little Country Greenhouse will tell you how to start Your Own Meditation Gardens.
At 10:30 a.m. Lisa Hunt, owner of Lakeside Center in Deerwood, provides human resources, counseling, and consulting services to organizations and individuals in the Central Lakes region in Minnesota, has a talk entitled "For BetterForever, Keeping the Love Alive" to cover the stages which our love and marriages go through and answers the ongoing question of what happens to romance and how to get it back.
At 11:30 a.m. aerobic room, Ken Fogal, who has practiced psychology for 26 years and has been in private practice and working at Central Lakes Medical Clinic for the past 16 years, presents The Power of Thought.
At 11:30 a.m. arena: In a "Women's Guide to a Worry-Free Retirement", Brent Ruebling and Katie Williams will provide information and strategies on how to build a nest egg that will last. With changes in demographics nationwide and challenging economic times it is more critical then ever that women take a proactive approach to their financial future.
At 12:30 p.m., Christine Desmond, owner of Unique Keepsakes Gifts, will host a fashion show with their signature Magic Wrap vintage recycled sari wrap skirts that can also be worn as a dress, top or shawl. They also offer a line of fair trade items imported from India, Nepal and Tibet such as scarf dresses, patch jackets, belly dancing scarves, Himalayan salt lamps, sterling silver jewelry and purses also made out of vintage recycled saris.
At 1 p.m. Joan Wikre, teacher of family consumer sciences and culinary arts, will demonstrate fast and easy recipes for homemade dressings while adding essential fatty acids in your diet.
Heartland Performing Arts will entertain with dancing, acrobatics and cheerleading at 2 p.m.
The first 400 participants will receive a complimentary gift bag. UCare Minnesota has donated Target and Cub gift certificates for door prizes. Participants may visit home and health and wellness businesses and artists and crafters and may experience what Hallett Center of Crosby has to offer by using the pool or fitness center for free.
