20 years ago (1988)

Industrial land in Brainerd owned by Burlington Northern Railroad has been included in a state list of contaminated sites that may be eligible for clean-up funds.

30 years ago (1978)

A Brainerd father and son spent an unscheduled night on Mille Lacs Lake Sunday, after a malfunctioning outboard left them adrift. The two fishermen, Verne Palmer and his son Darrell, 21, drifted to shore early this morning.

40 years ago (1968)

60 years ago (1948)

Ducks have another thought coming if they think they can get away from such sharp shooters as Lee Hughes, Jim Tinkelpaugh and Dr. George Cardle. Each of these three huntsmen broke 96 percent at Uncle Toms Trap Shoot.
