MANKATO -- The Central Lakes College Raiders volleyball team won the consolation championship at the Mankato Bethany tournament Saturday.
In the tournament's pool play, the Raiders lost 2-15, 5-15 to Kishwaukee of Illinois. The Raiders then defeated Mesabi 15-7, 15-2, before bowing to Ridgewater 15-10, 11-15, 15-17.
In the consolation bracket, the Raiders defeated Hibbing 15-5, 15-13, and went on to defeat Mesabi in the consolation championship match 15-1, 15-1.
Raider Katie Bell led her team in serving, going 52-54 with 11 ace serves. Bell also added 104 set assists, 24 digs, nine kills and three blocks.
"We dominated Mesabi," said Raiders coach Jane Peterson. "We improved our hitting and setting. Becky Poster had a great weekend with a .492 hitting percentage. We traveled more than 1,200 miles in the past eight days and now we get a well deserved week off."
