Home sales jump

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Americans, taking advantage of a reprieve from rising interest rates, drove sales of existing homes up by a surprising 9.3 percent in August, the biggest leap in 14 months. Sales of existing homes rose to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.27 million units last month.
