Collins wins Legion title

Josh Collins won the American Legion golf league championship by two points, beating Chuck Pettit in the final week of play at Eagles Landing Golf Course.

Pettit maintained first place most of the second half of the season before losing out to Collins.

Previous winners Ron Holloway and Stan Stydnicki finished in third and fourth place, respectively. Holloway placed third with a strong finish over Stydnicki in the final week.

Point scores were Collins, 201; Pettit, 199; Holloway, 182; and Stydnicki, 180.

Other top finishers included Bo Delahunt, fifth place, 179; Gerry Blanck, sixth, 176; Bruce Isebrand, seventh, 172; Virgil Crawford, a former winner, eighth, 171; Roger Temple, ninth, 171; and Gary Pierzinski, 10th, 169.

Forty-four golfers participated in this year's league play along with substitutes.
