MOTLEY -- Julia R. Kasper, 88, Motley, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at the Moorhead Health Care Center in Moorhead.
She was born March 9, 1914, in Moran Township to John and Stella (Kowalski) Dukowitz. She attended country school between Staples and Browerville. She married William Kasper on Oct. 24, 1931, in Wadena. They farmed for a few years in Villard Township before moving to May Township north of Motley. In 1971 they sold their farm and moved to Motley. For many years she worked in the kitchen of the Mary Rondorf Retirement Home. Since 1997 she had made her home at the Moorhead Health Care Center. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include four daughters, Delores Kullmann, Cottage Grove, Lorraine Fornshell, Portland, Ore., Margie Perkins, Glyndon, and Loretta Panko, East Grand Forks; three sons, Melvin Kasper, Moorhead, David Kasper, Grand Forks, N.D., and James Kasper, Glyndon; a sister, Frances Tepley, Arlington, Ore.; 28 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband; a daughter, Mary Ann; five brothers, John, Ted, Frank, Bernard and Martin; and a sister, Agnes, died earlier.
Services will be at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Motley with Father Robert Landsberger officiating. Burial will be at the Motley Public Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
