CAMBRIDGE -- Lee Ward Holm, 74, of Cambridge, Minn., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, after watching his beloved Bluejacket football team win. Lee suffered a heart attack on the way home and passed quickly, with Nancy, his wife of 50 years, at his side. Born in Minneapolis on Dec. 5, 1928, to Bernice and Hans Holm, he was the eldest of 11 children. He grew up primarily in Brainerd, Minn., and graduated in 1946 from Washington High School in Brainerd, and in 1951 from Brainerd Junior College after serving in the Air Force. Lee was a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Francis, Minn.
Lee is survived by wife Nancy; daughter Cheryl and her husband Dan Becker; son Mark; his wife Terri and their children, Daniel and Elizabeth, and daughter Lisa, as well as his brothers Lynn (Marcie) of Plainview, Minn., Blair (Cecelia) of California, Keith (Diane) of Colorado, Terry (Jeannie) of Brainerd, Minn., Otis (Sheila) of Brainerd, Minn., and sisters Avis (Chuck) Pixley of Mora, Minn., Sharon (Frank) Haynal of Michigan, Jan Walker of Golden Valley, Minn., and Ruth (Doug) Forseth of Merrifield, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Neil.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 24, 5-7 p.m. at Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge. The memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Cambridge at 1 p.m. Thursday with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all memorials be directed to the Jacket Backers football booster program. Contact Todd Larkin, head football coach, for details.
