I am proud to support Tim Penny, the Independence Party candidate for Governor. There will be no negative campaigning. His message is positive and straight-forward. Tim Penny's campaign will set an example of what Minnesotans should expect from their candidates for office. Vote "Tim Penny, Independence Party".
Blaine and education
Greg Blaine did not support early childhood education.
In 2002, Greg Blaine had an opportunity to vote against the Republican plan to balance the state's budget deficit on the backs of children by refusing to support their Phase II budget plan which cut the ECFE's budget by 21 million over the next three years. These cuts came in the form of reducing the amount of the Basic Sliding Fee childcare available, cuts to Adult Basic Education, and after school enrichment grants. Greg Blaine should have held the early childhood education harmless from cuts. He voted in favor of the Draconian bill instead.
Greg Blaine does not want to be held accountable for Higher Education.
In 2002 Greg Blaine supported the Phase I budget agreement which cut $50 million in Fiscal Year '02 and $100 million in Fiscal Year '04 out of the budget for Higher Education - once again forcing tuition increases.
Greg Blaine did not deliver for our rural communities. He is satisfied that the budget was balanced and state taxes weren't raised. Why does he ignore the fact that local taxpayers will be footing the bill even more? Why did he cut early childhood education and raise tuition, balancing the budget on the backs of our kids? Blaine is just not an aggressive advocate for rural Minnesota. He votes for the party not what we need here in our district.
I think that Crow Wing County should let the motocross track move to a new location south of Brainerd on Highway 37I do not believe that noise is the real issue. The track already runs at the fairgrounds, which is close to two trailer parks, some homes and some farms. There is no one in the area that I have ever heard of, complaining about noise or dust from the motocross races. Let the kids have a place of their own to race at. We're only talking one day a week. We all live with highway noise, North Central Speedway, boat motors, hunters, snowmobilers and Camp Ripley. Kids enjoying a family activity one night a week during the summer is not going to hurt anyone. I hope our county planning and zoning board makes the right decision, and that is to vote yes for the kids of our community.
Crow Wing Township
Shaw for Ward 2
Ed Shaw is the candidate of choice for city council. He is committed to making a positive difference in the Brainerd community. His goals for our community will ensure our quality of life, protect our environment and promote good-paying jobs for our workforce. Please vote for Shaw on Nov. 5.
Keep Blaine there
Greg Blaine is asking for your vote this year, and after his performance this past legislative session, he deserves it. He has shown remarkable competency and leadership in his first term and will only become more adept in the state legislature in a second term. Let's keep him there.
