I recently moved to Brainerd and soon found out that the entire city doesn't put any effort toward recycling. In my opinion, this is an outrage! Considering so many businesses survive off of the great outdoors and people's interest in the environment, I cannot even begin to believe that we as a city are not even putting an effort toward recycling! The state that our world is in right now we cannot afford to not recycle! This is a huge problem and the city officials in charge of the waste management here should be ashamed of themselves.
To fix or not to fix
Have you been to the hospital lately? I was surprised to see 5, 7 and 10-year-olds there visiting. I thought we were in the midst of flu season. Why would any "responsible" parent bring a germ-ridden child into a hospital full of sick people? Oh well. Like they say, "You can't fix stupid."
Editor's note: The Vox Pop Department of Kindness Police knows you can't make people pose a question in a polite manner. And, the last time the Vox Pop Department of Germs checked, it was discovered we all carry germs, no matter how old we are.
Bright idea
Whose bright idea was it for the city of Brainerd to have the whole neighborhood on South Eighth replace sidewalks last fall only to have the street redone this summer and tear huge chunks of them all out? Will we be reassessed for that?
Same as 60 years ago?
I was noticing in Monday's paper under This Was Brainerd and looking at the 1949 from 60 years ago indicated that "inadequate system of accounting was employed by the Brainerd School District." Well, I see some things have never changed, huh?
