Warriors defeat Sartell

For the second straight day, the Brainerd Warriors tennis team came up with a much-needed Central Lakes Conference victory by defeating the Sartell Sabres 5-2 Friday.

Fighting fatigue from playing four meets in five days, the Warriors won all four singles matches in straight sets to seal the victory.

Aitkin tennis team edges Duluth Marshall

Duluth -- With their No. 1 singles player, Krista Lindgren, out because of illness, the Aitkin Gobblers tennis team turned to its doubles play to pull out a 4-3 victory over Duluth Marshall Friday.

Using a strong baseline game, Brittany Johnson picked up the Gobblers' only singles victory. After Aitkin's top two doubles teams won, that left it up to Jessica Storlie and Svea Lindgren to pull out the decisive seventh game and give the Gobblers a come-from-behind, three-hour, marathon victory.
