Goll good for 2 golds

PARK RAPIDS - For the first time since 1999 the Brainerd Warriors did not win the Park Rapids invite Saturday.

That honor went to Melrose, which topped the runner-up Warriors by 63 points. Brainerd did manage 502 points to top third-place Perham by 161 points as Laura Goll won the 200- and 500-yard freestyles with season best times.

Goll captured the 200 with a 2:06.08. Teammate Sarah Dens finished second in the event.

In the 500, Goll won with a 5:36.48.

The 200 medley relay of Siri Smith, Miriah Moen, Alex Erickson and Dens won with a tie of 2:00.81. Smith also won the backstroke and Katy Etterman continued her hot diving with a wining score of 198.25.

Brainerd's 400 free relay of Grace Bymark, Erickson, Smith and Dens finished second and Dens was second in the 100 freestyle.

Smith and Erickson finished second and third in the 200 individual medley with 2:30.52 and 2:31.89 respectively.

Other top five performances from the Warriors included Laura Boran's fifth-place 27.47 in the 50 free. Beth Etterman placed fifth in diving. Erickson was fourth and Bymark fifth in the 100 fly. Stephanie Hansen finished fourth in the 500 free and Moen was fifth in the breaststroke.
