No arrests made in shooting, victim discharged

CASS LAKE -- No arrests have been made in the shooting of a 26-year-old Cass Lake man Saturday and officers continue to investigate the incident, Cass County Sheriff Randy Fisher said Tuesday.

Steven Lyons suffered a bullet wound to his leg after an acquaintance allegedly shot him with a handgun Saturday, Fisher said. The incident was reported at 6:48 p.m. on Facility Center Drive, north of Cass Lake.

Lyons received medical treatment at a Cass Lake medical facility and then was transported to MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D. He has since been discharged, a hospital spokesman said Tuesday.

Fisher said though the shooting was reported as a crime, investigators haven't determined what led up to the shooting.

Leech Lake Tribal Police are assisting Cass County deputies with the investigation.
