STAPLES -- Staples-Motley Community Education will present classes on training dogs, becoming a writer and "one-stroke" painting starting in October.

An eight-week Basic Dog Training class will run 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning Oct. 6 at the Staples Community Center. Gordy Schlichting will instruct. Cost is $48.
All dogs must have their shots up to date, including rabies and parvovirus. Bring a copy of the shot record, and a 6-foot leather leash and chain training collar to class.
The three-week course On Being a Writer will be offered from 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Oct. 4 in Room 103 at Staples Motley High School for high school juniors through adults. Cost is $45.
The course will cover everything from writing basics to the fine points. Receive a copy of the book "Because I Love You" when signing up.
Cost is $45.
Learn the fast and easy "one-stroke" method of painting from 6-8:30 p.m. Oct. 13 in Room 100 at Staples-Motley High School. Cost is $22.
Supplies are included for a wood picture frame project. Bring #10 and #12 flat synthetic shader brushes to class.
