Lisa Paxton, Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce chief executive officer, was elected to the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Paxton is one of 11 board members elected by Minnesota Chamber members at its 2002 annual meeting. The volunteer board represents businesses of all types and sizes throughout the state. These business leaders approve legislative policies developed by chamber committees and guide the organization's strategy at the Capitol. The chamber is the state's largest business organization, representing more than 2,800 businesses on state public policy and regulator issues.
Kelly joins Lakes Area Counseling
PORT Family Services announced the hiring of Michael Kelly as a therapist at Lakes Area Counseling.
Before going to PORT, Kelly was a therapist for three years with the Recovery Plus department at St. Cloud Hospital. He worked for 23 years as a counselor/corrections officer in the drug/alcohol department of the St. Cloud Reformatory.
Kelly earned his bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Minnesota, his master's degree in rehabilitation counseling at St. Cloud State University and is licensed by the state of Minnesota to practice psychology.
Lakes Area Counseling, a division of PORT Family Services, offers counseling, adolescent outpatient chemical dependency treatment, parent training and ADHD assessments for children and their families.
Nor-son expands architectural staff
BAXTER -- Nor-son Inc., Baxter, is expanding its architectural department staff.
Jesse Hopkins, originally from Bemidji, graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in architecture. He recently moved from San Francisco where he worked with Spear Design Associates as an architect. He is currently working on the new Northern National Bank branch going into the East Brainerd Mall, as well as various lake shore residential projects.
Amy Falk was promoted to a designer. She has a bachelor's degree in architecture, with a minor in landscape architecture from North Dakota State University. Originally from Hankinson, N.D., she has been working at Nor-son as an AutoCAD designer and is working toward receiving her Minnesota license.
Four AutoCAD designers were also hired at Nor-son.
Bethany Bean came to Nor-son from LHB Engineers & Architects in Duluth. She has a specialized associate's degree in Computer Assisted Design technology of architectural drafting and design from Northwest Technical Institute.
Travis Boyd was employed as a designer/drafter for the past four years starting at API-Construction in St. Paul and more recently, Boyd's Lumber in Aitkin. He has an educational background in architectural drafting from the Minneapolis Drafting School and Computer Programming degree from Brown Institute.
Darin Dirkes trained with Littfin Truss as a truss layout technician after graduating from St. Cloud Technical College with a degree in architectural construction technology.
Jon Hagelie also graduated from St. Cloud Technical College with a diploma in architectural construction technology and is working as an AutoCAD designer at Nor-son.
