NEW YORK MILLS -- Fifty works of art by northeast Minnesota artists are on exhibit in the main floor gallery of the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center until Oct. 31.
The MacRostie Gallery of Grand Rapids coordinated the show, which includes ceramics and two-dimensional work in watercolor, batik, oil pastel, acrylics and other media. Twenty-seven artists are represented in the show. Many are from the Grand Rapids area, but the show includes artists from Park Rapids, St. Cloud, Duluth-Superior, Hibbing, Carolton and Deer River.
Director Kraig Dibb of the MacRostie Gallery, which is a member-based gallery like Art of the Lakes in Battle Lake, gathered the works to show a strong sampling of those artists who belong to and regularly display at the MacRostie. The exchange is part of a collaboration among northern Minnesota galleries that will also see artists from New York Mills' 2000 Regional Art Show displayed in Duluth at the Depot gallery next summer.
The MacRostie artists are: Jo Haynie, Grand Rapids; Pat Honer St. Cloud; Gale LeCompte, Grand Rapids; Paul Sajavec, Hibbing; Phyllis Thompson, Grand Rapids; Ruth Sinclair, Grand Rapids; Helen Taylor, Deer River; Pam Lee, Superior; Margaret Holmes, Hibbing; Tom Borg, Grand Rapids; Jesse Nordby, Park Rapids; Louise Lundin, Hibbing; Betty Brown, Carolton; Keith Thompson, Grand Rapids; Mitch Mickelson, Grand Rapids; Diane Rutherford, Grand Rapids; Chris Herman-Carter, Duluth; Jean Newstrom, Grand Rapids; Deb Page, Grand Rapids; Dorothy Hall, Grand Rapids; Paul Lutz, Duluth; Jim Hendriques, Duluth; Jim Loso, St. Cloud; Kraig Dibb, Grand Rapids; Craig Hakala, Hibbing; Bernice Anderson, Grand Rapids; and Glenna Shrimpton, Grand Rapids.
