Soap box derby race Saturday at Brainerd Civic Center

The final Brainerd Lakes Downhill Drags Soap Box Derby of the season will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Brainerd Civic Center parking lot.
Any youth 7 years and older wishing to race one of the loaner cars should call the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department (828-2320) Thursday.
All participants must be registered by noon Friday. Cost is $5. Practice races begin at 8:30 a.m.
Whalen to speak to boosters club
Brainerd Warrior girls' tennis coach Marnie Whalen will be the speaker at the Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting, which begins at noon Thursday at the Moose Lodge.
Kelly Rosenthal, the Warrior Athlete of the Week, will be honored.
