ELK RIVER -- For the second-straight game the Brainerd Warriors girls' soccer team ended in a tie.

This time the Warriors and Elk River concluded 0-0 Saturday.

Brainerd tied St. Cloud Tech Thursday.

"It's interesting," said Warrior coach Steve Kimble. "Both times we've tied and then shaken the hands of our opponents, our team is the ones with the frowns.

Considering who we've tied we'll take them. Tying Tech and Elk River is just fine. We'll remain undefeated. We don't like it but we'll take it."

Melissa Hanson recorded eight saves in the shutout and Kimble said she played well in net. The coach also singled out the play of his midfielders especially senior captain Joyce Hendricks.

Brainerd held Elk River to just one shot in the extra frame.

The Warriors tackle their biggest week in school history staring Monday when they host unbeaten Sartell then travel to Alexandria Tuesday.

"These are must wins if we want to win the conference," said Kimble. "Sartell beat Alexandria last week, but those to and us are the top three teams in the conference. The next two games are the biggest games probably the Brainerd girls' have played."
