From now on, the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers are on their own.
Odalis Perez pitched the whole way and Los Angeles beat the Giants 6-3 Thursday night, cutting San Francisco's lead to one game in the NL wild-card race.
After splitting the four-game set at Dodger Stadium, the old rivals are not scheduled to play again this season. Each club has nine games left.
"It definitely was a good series for both teams," said Reggie Sanders, who hit a two-run homer in the ninth for the Giants.
"They didn't lose any ground and we didn't lose any ground. They're a very tough team and they're here for a reason. So it's not going to be an easy task," he said.
Both teams are on the road this weekend to play last-place club.
