Crow Wing County will receive money from the federal government through the disaster aid bill for the 2001 tornado, it was learned this morning.
Senate President Don Samuelson, DFL-Brainerd, said in a telephone interview that the state House and Senate both approved the funding late Thursday afternoon in their special session.
Previously, the county applied for funds through the disaster aid bill and was denied by the federal government. County officials appealed the decision and were successful the second time around.
Samuelson said the total amount of the bill is $32 million and will help county residents who received damages in the 2001 tornado.
