The Harlem Ambassadors basketball show will be in Staples at 8 p.m. Monday.
There will be ballhandling tricks, slam dunks and family comedy. The show will begin after homecoming coronation in the Staples-Motley High School gym.
Tickets purchased in advance are $8 for adults, $5 for kids and seniors 65 and older at local banks. Tickets at the door will be $10 and $6. Proceeds will go toward the Staples Lions 93 project and the Staples-Motley basketball program.
The ambassadors will take on a group of Staples-Motley alumni all-stars, including Arden Beachy, Ryan Beachy, Jessica Beachy Rahman, Jeff Brever, Nick Doll, Chris Heier, Dustin Hjelmeland, Blaine Joerger, Trevor Peterson, Kristi Wolhowe Halverson and Craig Wolhowe.
JV tennis plays Willmar
The Brainerd junior varsity tennis team won two singles and nine doubles matches Thursday against Willmar.
Hannah Stall and Corrina Schmidt won singles matches.
Doubles winners were the pairs of Kylee Kunde-Zoe Wolhart, Mara Williams-Nicole Gervenak, Jinna Toft-Kelsey Ott, Megan Mitchell-Taylor Ott, Corinna Schmidt-Hannah Stall, Chloe Glassman-Megan Hintz, Gabby Waters-Rosemary Hunter, Kylie Halvorson-Hazel Patel and Julie Ashburn-Heather Jaeche.
Freshmen win at Willmar
Brainerd defeated Willmar 20-13 in freshmen football Thursday.
Scoring for Brainerd were Sam Kelash on a TD run, Zach Shepersky returned a fumble 60 yards for a TD (Levi Rubin conversion run) and Luke Boran threw a TD pass to Chris Bowman.
The Warriors were led on defense by Levi Rubin, Sam Kelash, Dax Van Steenvyk and Zach Shepersky. Warrior Player of the Week was Shepersky.
Brainerd (3-0) plays at home Thursday against St. Cloud Apollo. The Warrior B team plays Tuesday at Pillager.
