Bonsante to box Saturday

Crosby-Ironton High School graduate Anthony "The Bullet" Bonsante will box Carl "The Squirrel" Daniels in a scheduled 10-round main event Saturday night at Treasure Island Casino in Red Wing.

Bonsante, 37, carries a 31-10 record into the bout with 18 knockouts. Daniels is 50-14 with 32 knockouts.

Bouts begin at 7 p.m. Bonsante is scheduled to box about 9 p.m. in the 164-pound super middleweight fight.

Bonsante hopes to bounce back from a first-round loss Aug. 1 to Adonis Stevenson.

Daniels, like Stevenson, is a left-hander.

"He's 5-9, a wily veteran," Bonsante said. "He's a little tougher opponent than maybe I wanted, but after a loss I've got to come back, get a win and hopefully close (his career) out the end of the year or the first quarter of next year."
