What do area businesses expect from education? Brainerd Superintendent Steve Razidlo would like to find out.
The Brainerd/Baxter Business Council of the Brainerd Lakes Chamber will host a roundtable discussion with Razidlo at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Northland Arboretum.
Razidlo would like to hear from the business community on priorities the school district should focus on to better prepare future employees. He also will give information on the school district, changes in education and what schools do to help business and future industries in the community.
Razidlo served as Brainerd assistant superintendent for two years before starting his new role as superintendent of the district on July 1.
In other school district news, the Brainerd School Board has scheduled several meetings during the next few weeks.
A special school board meeting is planned for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Agenda items include reviewing rules and mandates for the board, including the review of statutes and the Minnesota School Board Association process. There also will be discussion of the board process for filling the vacancy left on the board by Ruth Gmeinder, who resigned Wednesday.
A board finance committee meeting is planned for 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Agenda items include the fiscal year 2008 budget update, fiscal year 2009 budget planning, 403(b) process review and negotiations update.
A board legislative committee is planned for 11:30 a.m. Oct. 9. Agenda issues includes general discussion, mandates and costs, reports from other statewide meetings, local funding and legislative responses.
The regularly scheduled monthly school board meeting will be 7 p.m. Oct. 13.
The meetings will be in the board room at Washington Educational Services Building, 804 Oak St. in Brainerd.
