Grenade brought to sheriff's office will be detonated
PARK RAPIDS (AP) - A military grenade that was brought to the Hubbard County Sheriff's Department in Park Rapids is now in the hands of a bomb squad.
The grenade was brought in to the sheriff's office on Thursday afternoon by a Hubbard County resident, who said that a relative had the grenade and she didn't know what to do with it.
Sheriff's deputies took the grenade and placed it outside, with sandbags around it.
The Crow Wing County Bomb Squad arrived and used a computerized robot to put the grenade in a protected container.
It will be taken to a special area in Crow Wing County to be detonated.
