There may not be snow on the ground, but a variety of snowmobile events are scheduled Saturday in Brainerd to keep riders busy.
A free practice day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds. Races will be open to Kitty Kat drivers and any trail sleds.
The Brainerd Snodeos will host its sixth annual Grass Drag and Swap meet at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 4. This will be a sanctioned points race on the SDSDRA circuit.
The race is open to all participants and vintage and antique racers are encouraged to participate. Non-point races are available for trail sleds with trophies given to all winning participants. The cost to attend is $10 per person or $5 for Minnesota USA members.
This is a fundraiser for the snowmobile trail maintenance in the Brainerd lakes area.
The Gull Lake Drifters group is hosting its annual Snowmobile Club Open House from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Nisswa Club House, one block south of the Nisswa Dairy Queen next to Dick Parks Gas.
The open house will include free brats, hot dogs and pop and will allow snowmobilers the opportunity to connect with one another. Families are invited to this event to learn more about what makes the Brainerd Lakes Snowmobile Trails possible. Groomer rides will be available.
The snowmobile trails are currently maintained by local snowmobile clubs, which depend on donations by businesses like the Silver Riders Club members. For more information about the Support the Trails program, contact Linda Turpin at the Brainerd Lakes Chamber or visit explorebrainerdlakes.com.
Individual donations are welcome and may be forwarded to the chamber at 7393 State Highway 371, Brainerd, MN 56401. Make checks payable to CWCSTA (Crow Wing County Snowmobile Trail Association).
