Nisswa concert time changed

NISSWA - The time for the Alpheus Ward Project concert has been changed to 1-4 p.m. Saturday in the Nisswa Square.

Morrison County Historical Society to meet Sept. 28

LITTLE FALLS - The Morrison County Historical Society will meet Sept. 28 at the Falls Ballroom in Little Falls for its annual meeting.

The meeting begins at noon, meal served at 12:30 p.m. and program to follow. The meeting will include the election of three board members for 2008-09. Current MCHS members are allowed to cast their votes for board members.

During the meeting, the Local Beat: Morrison County's Homegrown Music will perform.

Tickets are $15 per person. Reservations can be made by calling (320) 632-4007. People are asked to RSVP by Wednesday.

LF parent-teacher conferences set

LITTLE FALLS - Parent-teacher conferences for first quarter will begin at 3:45 p.m. Oct. 6 at Little Falls Community High School and go until 6:30 p.m. All teachers will be located in the commons area. Students are urged to attend conferences with their parents.

Conferences also will be from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 13 at the high school.

Civil service panel to meet Tuesday

The Brainerd Police and Fire Civil Service Commission will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brainerd City Hall to certify the police officer eligibility list results and consider a reinstatement request.

Brainerd council to hold special meeting

The Brainerd City Council will meet in a special session at noon Thursday to call a public hearing for submission of a Minnesota Investment Fund application to the Minnesota Department of Economic Development regarding a Wausau Paper Co. expansion project and to consider a revolving loan fund request for Wausau Paper Co.

Neighborhood Schools Coalition to meet Tuesday

The Brainerd Neighborhood Schools Coalition is sponsoring a community discussion on the future of Whittier Elementary School from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Congregational Church , 415 Juniper St. The purpose of this meeting will be to collect neighborhood and community input on the district's decision to close Whittier Elementary School. All Brainerd's north side neighbors and community members are invited to attend.

The Brainerd Neighborhood Schools Coalition is a diverse group of citizens and community members working together to support and strengthen Brainerd neighborhood schools.

Final public meeting on changes to MPCA permit fee rules

ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will host a final round of public meetings to receive and discuss suggestions to draft amendments to the air and water permit fee rules that partially fund permit activities. The final set of meetings will take place before formal rule hearings begin.

The Brainerd meeting will be from 1-7 p.m. with presentations at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at the MPCA Brainerd office, 7678 College Road, Suite 105, Brainerd. There will be time before or after presentations for questions and discussion of alternative rule language. Individuals will be able to determine what permit fees would apply to their facilities.

Crow Wing County Fair Association meeting planned

The Crow Wing County Fair Association will host its annual meeting on Nov. 6. A business meeting and the election of four directors to three-year terms will be on the agenda. Anyone interested in applying for a director position should submit his or her name to Crow Wing County Fair Association, 2000 13th St. N.E., Brainerd, MN 56401 by Oct. 31.

Search for Mrs. Crow Wing County announced

Applications are now being accepted for the title of Mrs. Crow Wing County 2009.

Mrs. Crow Wing County will represent her county at the Mrs. Minnesota pageant at Ritsche Auditorium in St. Cloud on March 14-15.
