Hi, my name is Ally. This week will be the one-year anniversary of my adoption.
A year ago, my sister and I were abandoned by a family who raised us from puppies. A kind homeowner found my sister and I hanging out on their property, both of us scared and hungry. They helped us by caring for us until they could get us help from Heartland Animal Rescue Team.
One Saturday morning, a very nice couple walked into HART, not fully knowing what to expect, other than to see some cute, furry faces. They had just lost their beloved 15-year-old yellow Lab. They were not sure about getting a dog right away, but HART seemed like a place they needed to visit.
Well, the visit landed me an opportunity to shine. Yes, a walk in HART's backyard with the couple and many questions were asked about me. The visit became a long one, and the next thing I know, the nice family was telling me that, in a week, they would be back to pick me up. My sister was adopted that day, too. I hope she has a great family and she's as lucky as I am.
Today, a year later, I still love to play ball, fetch my duck and go for daily walks. On the weekends, my new parents walk me to the beach, not far from my house, to play in the water. I am also a pretty good captain of my parent's boat when we go cruising or fishing.
Thank you, HART, and all the volunteers for helping all the animals. I feel lucky to have had such a wonderful family come along and recognize my need for a home and their need to love another dog.
Ally (with help from owner Stephanie Wilder),
Baxter
