Questioning the DNR
I am wondering why the DNR is so intent on killing all these deer when all they would have to do to get their samples is drive down the road and pick up the deer killed from car accidents. If the deer are stumbling into the path of cars they would be more likely to be infected than deer that stay in the woods. The DNR would also get a huge head start on the testing. What do they know that they aren't telling us?
I've been driving truck for just about 25 years and I've seen a lot of different drivers. But this year I've seen a lot of drivers passing the truck I drive in the yellow, no passing zone. ... I think people are being very dangerous and unsafe. ... People should go back and get a driver's manual and learn what the laws are. I don't think people have forgotten. They are just in too much of a hurry.
Who's in charge?
In driving around Brainerd, thoughts come to mind about the roads. First of all, the corner at College Road and Fourth is an impatient accident waiting to happen there. Why don't we have a light? Why aren't some of the streets paved -- the one behind the bleachers ... or College Road? It's like a patchwork quilt it's so bumpy. Laurel Street between the fire station and South Sixth -- if the snowbanks don't get you in the winter, the potholes are gonna get you this time of year. ... And let's not even start on the mess over by the Moose and the hospital.
