Pillager girls take title

ROYALTON - Shauna Maurer finished in fourth place with a time of 18:09 as the Pillager girls took first place at the Royalton Invite Thursday.

Sarah Neururer, Kayla Rardin and Sonora Nolan-Rapatz all finished in the top 10 for the Huskies.

The Pillager boys finished in third place as Matt Neururer recorded an eighth-place time.

PR-B's Taylor, Tiger boys score wins

MABLE LAKE - Kira Taylor paced the girls' field with a first-place time of 18:31 and Joe Smith led the Tiger boys with a second-place time of 18:57 as the Pine River-Backus boys' cross country team took first while the girls finished second by one point in the PR-B triangular Thursday.

Travis Wheeler, Jason Plantz and Sam Hedberg finished 3-4-5 to lead the Tigers to the top team score of 22 points. Jacob Weber and Todd Woelfel finished eighth and ninth to round out the top ten for the PR-B boys.

Autumn Ackerman and Kendra Brasel finished fifth and sixth on the girls' side to join Taylor with top 10 times.

Pequot boys third

EVELETH - The Pequot Lakes boys' team finished third and the Patriots' Silas Lydeen was fourth in Thursday's Eveleth-Gilbert Invite.

For the Pequot girls, Kylie Beltz finished sixth to help lead the Patriots to fourth place.
