HACKENSACK - Pauline (Van Buren) Kelly, age 82, of Hackensack, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Walker. She was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Winthrup, Iowa, to Dennis and Mary Henry McNamara. She grew up in Iowa and then moved to Minnesota when she was 18 years old. She married John Van Buren and raised four children on the farm. Pauline worked at Ah Gwah Ching in the late 1960s. She married Donald Kelly in December of 1972. She loved going on cruises and traveling with her husband. She was very handy and creative and enjoyed working with stained glass, pottery, woodworking and painting. She always enjoyed gardening and preserving food. She could do anything from fixing the lawn mower to wiring the house. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren whom she loved very much.

Except for a lucky few, paying for college isn't easy. Judging from how long it has taken, neither is reforming how the government provides the loans that make higher education affordable to millions. Yet this week, as the House considers a bill that promises to save taxpayers billions of dollars, it's clear that the right choice is to vote yes.
Open Forum: Let's return to manners and civility
The outburst by Rep. Joe Wilson during the president's address has gotten a lot of coverage. The"apology" issued by Mr. Wilson was grudging and fainthearted at best. It is indicative of the prevailing lack of civility which has become not only tolerated but encouraged by the talking heads in the political media on both sides of the fence.
