20 years ago (1982)

Today we'd like to turn the tables and urge fall clean-up campaign before snow comes. A good place to start would be the grates around each of the trees planted downtown Brainerd.

30 years ago (1972)

James Alderman was the guest of honor at the Brainerd Lions Club 50th Anniversary Celebration. Alderman was a member and the first president of the local Lions Club when it was chartered in 1921. He is the only living member of the original group.

40 years ago (1962)

The Passion Play choir, under the direction of Curtis Hansen has been selected to be the background choir instead of an orchestra.

60 years ago (1942)

One of the most modern stores and service systems ever inaugurated in Brainerd will feature the new C. Thomas Store located on Washington Street between Fifth and Sixth streets, which will be opened to the public Friday. Kenneth Storm is the manager of the grocery store.

80 years ago (1922)

By the consent of the chamber The Dispatch has appealed to the public of the Brainerd lakes region for a $50 fund to advertise the beautiful area. Donations thus far are: W. H. Cleary, $5; Perry Hardware, $5; First National Bank of Brainerd, $5.

100 years ago (1902)

No bit of news has reached Brainerd for some time that pleased the people mopre than that regarding the new pulp and paper mill which will be established here.
